Program Pemantapan NGO: Lay Kaunseling Negeri Perak

On 18th July 2023, the Perak State Women and Community Development Secretariat held a ‘Program Pemantapan NGO: Lay Kaunseling Negeri Perak’ at Dewan Serbaguna, SUK Perak.
The objective of this program was to give exposure and role to NGOs at the grassroots level in order to provide the right psychological support as well as help the government in building a prosperous society.

Attended Mother's Day and Father's Day Celebration by PRIM

Mother’s and Father’s Day Celebration at Perak State level by Persatuan India Muslim Perak (PRIM)

Venue: Dewan KIA, Jalan Gurdwara Buntong, Ipoh
The event was held to celebrate Father’s and Mother’s Day as well as foster relationship between PRIM, other NGOs and Government agencies.
Phenji Ranjit Kaur, Secretary and Phenji Daljit Kaur, Assistant Secretary represented Sikhmai at the event.

WSCCM Perak Network Meet

The World Sikh Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (WSCCM) held their first Perak Network Meet on the 1st of July 2023 in Tandoor Grill Ipoh. Sikhmai was honoured to be invited to this prestigious event.
WSCCM was represented by its Executive Committee.
WSCCM President, Mr Jalbir Singh Riar, in his welcome speech explained how these dynamic young team came together with just one aim, to build camaraderie among Sikh businesses, entrepreneurs and the Sikh community, to share business related knowledge, commerce and job opportunities.
Ms Suneeta Kaur, Vice President of WSCCM spoke on the objectives and vision of WSCCM.
It was indeed a meaningful session and using this platform, Sikhmai can reach out to world Sikhs through fraternity and can explore avenues for its members. The ultimate aim is to self-earn rather than depending on hand-outs.

SIKHMAI to Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak (PASAK)

Sikhmai was honored to be invited by Pusat Aspirasi Anak Perak (PASAK) to join them for a briefing on their programs. Their main focus is Human Capital Development for people under the B40 category.
They enlightened us on the various programs that they offer like Technical and Vocational Educational Training (TVET) courses and career carnivals to help youth who have completed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM). They also retrain young graduates in soft skills to make them employable. These trainings are provided to disabled and single mothers as well.

10th Anniversary Celebration of Khalsa Land

On 17th June 2023, about 52 Sikhmai members graced their presence at Khalsa Land. A bus was arranged by the Sikhmai committee to accommodate its members so they could witness the celebration, do their bit of Sewa and enjoy the blissfulness of the Akhand Path that was being held there.

This session aimed to bring together Women NGOs in gathering insightful input related to efforts to empower women in Perak.
Present for the Hi Tea were Phenji Pushpinder Kaur, President of Sikhmai and Phenji Ranjit Kaur, Secretary of Sikhmai.

Attended Majlis Sambutan Setahun Perak Sejahtera 2030

The Perak State Government held a ‘Majlis Sambutan Setahun Perak Sejahtera 2030’ on 15th June 2023 at Ipoh Convention Centre from 1.30 pm till 5.00 pm.
In this event, the YAB Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad presented the Progress and Achievements of Prosperous Perak 2030 Report. It is about the projects and programs undertaken by the State Government within one year since its launch, in addition to widely spreading the aspirations and planning of Prosperous Perak 2030 to the people.
Overall, it was a very grand and meaningful occasion with the presence of over 2000 people of various layers of society with different backgrounds.

Hari Bertemu Pelanggan dan Majlis Ramah Mesra PPWN Perak

Guest of Honour – YB Puan Salbiah bt. Mohamed, Chairman of the Perak State Women, Family, Social Welfare, Cooperative and Entrepreneur Development Committee. Also present was Pn. Kavaramma Subramaniyam, Director of the Perak Women’s Development Office.
The event was attended by approximately 150 people from different Government Departments/Agencies, Non-Governmental Organisations and Woman Entrepreneurs.

Perak State Vaisakhi Open House

Sikhmai was alloted a booth by the organisers and therefore we held a Jumble Sale from which Sikhmai made quite good earnings.
Overall, the open house was a grand affair with various activities, wonderful performances and lots of Punjabi delicacies for everyone to enjoy

Empowerment Talk by Head of Malaysian Indian Youth Council Buntong Branch

On 23rd April 2023, Sikhmai conducted a small Empowerment talk for its members, prior to the commencement of the AGM 2023. We invited Veer Khuswindera Singh a/l Tara Singh (Kesh Sevadar), the Head of Malaysian Indian Youth Council Buntong Branch as the guest speaker. He explained and enlightened the members with information on bantuan e-Kasih.

Invited by Archdiocesan Office for Human Development (AOHD) for International Women's Day 2023

The Archdiocesan Office for Human Development (AOHD) invited the Sikh Single Mothers Association Ipoh Perak to join them in celebrating International Women’s Day 2023. The event was held on 9th March 2023 at Archdiocesan Pastoral Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The honourable guest included Archbishop Julian Leow and YB Teresa Kok who were present to render support, address and celebrate 100 over women at the high-tea function. Overall, it was a meaningful event filled with fun interactions and inspirational talks.

Attented Program Matahari: Jiwa Sihat Wanita Bahagia


On 23rd February 2023, a Sikhmai member, Phenji Harcharan Kaur attended the Program Matahari: Jiwa Sihat Wanita Bahagia. It was held in conjunction with International Women’s Day 2023. This event was conducted by Perak State Women’s Development Office at Main Meeting Room, UTC Perak from 8.00 a.m. till 1.00 p.m.
The main purpose of this program was to give exposure to the community, especially women, to be sensitive towards their emotional state and discuss the best ways to ensure women always think positively and stay away from things that can disturb their emotions and thoughts so they value themselves more and are always happy.
Pada 23hb Februari 2023, ahli Persatuan kami, Phenji Harcharan Kaur telah menghadiri Program Matahari: Jiwa Sihat Wanita Bahagia. Ia diadakan bersempena Hari Wanita Antarabangsa 2023. Majlis ini telah dikendalikan oleh Pejabat Pembangunan Wanita Negeri Perak di Bilik Mesyuarat Utama, UTC Perak dari jam 8.00 pagi hingga 1.00 tengah hari.
Tujuan utama program ini dijalankan adalah untuk memberi pendedahan kepada masyarakat khususnya golongan wanita untuk peka terhadap keadaan emosi dan bagaimana cara/langkah yang baik bagi memastikan wanita sentiasa berfikiran positif dan jauh daripada perkara yang boleh mengganggu emosi dan pemikiran mereka agar mereka lebih menghargai diri dan sentiasa bahagia.

Uniform Voucher Presentation

On the 19th of February, Sikhmai carried out their annual program of giving out uniform vouchers to Sikhmai members' children. A simple ceremony was held in Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh (WGSI). Sikhmai member, Preethi Bhardwaj gave an interesting talk on 'Unplugging from Social Media'. With God's grace everything went on smoothly. The event ended with everyone enjoying their evening Cha with Mee Goreng and Kuih-Muih. We thank our donor for his contribution, support and generosity. We would also like to thank the President and Committee of Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Ipoh for allowing us to use their premises, cooperating fully with us and for preparing a scrumptious meal!
